On March 17, 2025 in Helsinki (Finland) took place the CODE-YAA@PC-EDU hybrid MC-meeting, where a review of working progress was made, quality indicators of palliative care education, advocacy and cultural issues were discussed.
The meeting began with the welcome speech of Minna Hökkä, Action Vice-Chair and Grant Holder Scientific Representative. She described the status of palliative care in Finland and changes in palliative care coverage. Also she highlighted the importance of the project and opportunities in it development.
Then the Head of the project, Piret Paal, provided updates on the project for 2024 and demonstrated the action roadmap and expected outputs, as well as changes in the working groups leadership and other positions, like: Vice Chair (Minna Hökkä), Grant Holder ( DIAK), WG4 Leader (Vilma Tripodoro), WG5 Leader (Tanya Pastrana), Gender Equity Officer (Katarina Vojvodic) and Ethics Officer (İrem Özgören Kınlı).
Leszek Pawlowski, Grant Awarding Coordinator, described recent changes regarding award criteria and grants for a new granting period.
Gender Equity Officer (Katarina Vojvodic) and Ethics Officer (İrem Özgören Kınlı) represented the points their positions are focused on, and provided brief information about importance of a proper gender equity and ethics policy for the project.
Also, the leaders of the working groups (Stephen Mason, Phil Larkin, Gil Goldzweig) sharing their presentations about the progress of research within each working group. Stephen Mason provided a pilot demonstration and testing of the questionnaire for evaluation of quality indicators (Delphi study) and all participants had a possibility to try it. Then Phil Larkin offered an amazing brainstorming about cultural sensitivity and its implementation and relation to the project. Gil Goldzweig showed updates in the working group and talked about ensuring the impact of the quality indicators.
Vilma Tripodoro and Simone Veronese had a great presentation about ethics and leadership in palliative care education and provided information about upcoming Leadership and Ethics Summer Schools in June 2025.
The final part of the meeting was devoted to Management Committee work and decisions.
