Dear Colleagues,
Young Researcher and Innovator Conference Grant (YRI Conference grant) funds a presentation (poster/oral presentation) of their own work by a Young Researcher and Innovator (YRI) in a high-level conference1.
YRI Conference grant:
- Serves COST Excellence and Inclusiveness Policy.
- Supports Young Researchers and Innovators to establish a strong network and increase their visibility in the research community through sharing their work and to gain knowledge.
- Can contribute to increasing visibility of the Action.
- YRI Conference Grantee: receives support for attending and presenting their own work within the scope of the Action (poster/oral presentation) in a conference and can establish new contacts for future collaborations1.
Criteria for Young Researcher and Innovator Conference Grants Application
Who can apply?
Grants are reserved exclusively for:
- Young Researchers and Innovators (individuals working in novel ways to enhance palliative care through education, policy or practice)
- under the age of 40
- affiliated to a legal entity located in the COST Member Country, EC, EU body, office or agency or in the Near Neighbour Country (NNC)3
- whose abstract presenting their own work within the scope of the COST Action CA22127 was accepted for oral or poster presentation
- in a high-level conference fully organized by a third party (i.e. not organized nor co-organized by the COST Action)
How to apply?
The applicant is obliged to create a Grant Application by logging into e-COST and clicking on the Grant Applications tab. Next, the applicant should select the grant from the page ‘Apply for new grant’ (‘Young Researcher and Innovator Conference’)2.

The following documents for the grant application are required:
- YRI Conference Grant Application (based on e-COST template)
- Copy of the abstract of the accepted oral or poster presentation
- Acceptance (or invitation) letter from the conference organisers2
- Applicant CV and motivational letter
Information to be provided in the application
To be filled in e-COST:
- Title of the presentation
- Conference title, date and country
- Budget requested
- Attendance Type (face to face or online)
To be uploaded to e-COST:
- Application form (template available on e-COST) describing: Relevance of
the conference topic to the Action and Motivation describing the potential for
impact on the applicant’s career
- Copy of the abstract of the accepted poster or oral presentation
- Acceptance (or invitation) letter from the conference organisers
- Applicant CV and motivational letter
Application timeline:
Grant applications can be submitted in an active Action Grant Period (conference date within the active Grant Period, i.e. no overlap across two consecutive Grant Periods)1.
Grant application evaluation:
All grant applications will be assessed by the Core Group of the COST Action under the formal eligibility criteria, budget plan of the CA22127, and scientific merit of the work submitted for the conference.
Detailed criteria:
– Is the content of the work close to the topic of the COST Action CA22127?
– Is the impact of the research findings beneficial to the COST Action CA22127?
The amount of the grant should reflect the duration and location of the conference and the actual conference fee. The grant cannot exceed 2500 EURO (500 EURO for online conferences).
The Grant Awarding Coordinator coordinates the collection and evaluation the YRI Conference Grants Applications and encodes grant approval or rejection in the eCOST.
The Core Group of the CA22127 on behalf of the Management Committee take decisions on the YRI Conference Grants awarding/rejection.
Financial support:
We offer grants up to 2500 EURO per grant for face-to-face conferences or grants up to 500 EURO per grant for online conferences. Grants are paid after the end of the conference and submission of the complete report, according to these conditions and the rules of the COST Association.
YRI Conference active participation is required:
After grant awarding, the grantee is obliged to participate in the conference by presenting submitted oral or poster presentation and has to be listed in the official conference programme.
Grant reporting
Grantee is obliged to submit the required reports and relevant documentation in e-COST within 30 days after the end date of the conference or 15 days after the end of the Grant Period, whichever date comes first1.
COST Action: CA22127 – COllaboratively DEveloped culturallY Appropriate and inclusive Assessment tool for Palliative Care EDUcation should be acknowledged in the oral or poster presentation.
The report should include the outcome of the presentation of the accepted contribution, in terms of grantee’s visibility, including the establishment of new contacts for future collaborations.
Documentation submitted by using report template in the e-COST includes copies of:
- The certificate of attendance
- The programme of the conference or book of abstracts / proceedings indicating the presentation (oral or poster) of the grantee
- The given presentation (oral or poster) with acknowledgement of the COST Action CA22127
The Grant Awarding Coordinator verify the validity and content of the report and coordinates approval of the report. The Core Group of the CA22127 on behalf of the Management Committee take decisions on the report approval /rejection1.
