The workshop “Leadership in Curriculum Evaluation Research” was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Jose Pereira with the support of co-facilitator Tania Pastrana. The session focused on how educational leaders can build a strong evidence base for curriculum evaluation and research in palliative care education. Participants explored different types of evidence, including empirical evidence, synthesised evidence, conceptual evidence, and practice-based evidence, and discussed how each can inform decision-making in education and clinical practice.
A central part of the workshop was the comparison of standardised education and personalised education, including their strengths, limitations, and implications for learners, educators, and institutions. Participants also reflected on how artificial intelligence can be integrated into palliative care education, particularly in areas such as adaptive learning, learner support, curriculum evaluation, and evidence-informed decision-making. The session encouraged participants to think critically about how educational innovation should be guided not only by technology, but also by evidence, context, ethics, and the real needs of learners and patients.
